How to Recognize an Opioid Overdose and Use Narcan
Suspect an overdose? Call 911 immediately and give naloxone if available.
Look for someone who will not wake up, is breathing very slowly or not at all, or is making choking or gurgling sounds. Their lips or nails may change color.

If normal breathing does not return in 2 to 3 minutes, give another dose using a new device in the other nostril. Follow the dispatcher’s instructions and stay with the person until help arrives.
